Saint Rose of Lima

Oil on wood panel 12" x 16" X 1.5" The first canonized saint of the New World has one characteristic of all saints. She was born to parents of Spanish descent in Lima, Peru, at a time when South America was in its first century of evangelization. She was known for her beauty, but giving her life to God, she scoured her face with pepper, chopped her hair and wore thorns around her head. She became known for both her life of severe asceticism and her care of the needy the needy of the city.

St Margaret of Scotland

All of whom were raised with deep Catholic Christian faith. They lived as a holy family. Margaret's kind-nature and good heart was a strong influence on Malcolm's reign. Together they prayed, fed the hungry, and offered a powerful example of living faith in action.
